The AFNIGC – WICC Gala promises to be a night of inspiration, cultural entertainment, and a spiritual connection at its finest! We hope you can join us for this special night on bringing focus to Indigenous Cancer.
The World Indigenous Cancer Conference is proud to announce Academy Award Winner Buffy Sainte-Marie & Juno Award Winner Susan Aglukark will be performing at the AFNIGC – WICC 2019 Gala on September 18, 2019 @ 6 pm!
Both Sainte-Marie & Aglukark have garnered a reputation as proud & strong Canadian Indigenous Women who have captivated their global audiences with their music, activism, humanitarian efforts, culture, and knowledge! The World Indigenous Cancer Conference is proud and beyond excited to have these beautiful & strong Indigenous Women joining the fight against Indigenous Cancer.
INSPIRATIONAL ADDRESS: DARRELL FOX
Darrell Fox, who is Metis, is the younger brother of Terry Fox, for whom the Terry Fox Foundation and the Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI) are named. In 1980, at the age of 17, Darrell joined Terry (and Terry’s best friend Doug Alward) on his Marathon of Hope in Saint John, New Brunswick. As Terry’s younger brother, Darrell has had a long history of involvement with the legacy founded by his brother. In 1990, Darrell became the provincial director for The Terry Fox Foundation in British Columbia. In 1994, he moved to the National Office in Toronto, Ontario where he served for two years as the assistant national director and then national director of the Terry Fox Foundation from January 1996 until June 2009. To date, the Foundation has raised over $750 million for cancer research worldwide. Today Darrell serves on the TFRI’s Board of Directors and is a senior advisor to the Institute. A holder of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, Darrell continues to be involved in projects and activities related to Terry Fox and his legacy.
Tickets to the AFNIGC – WICC Gala are $150 each which includes seating, a five star plated dinner, and performances by Metis Jiggers, Susan Aglukark, and Buffy Sainte-Marie.
Corporate/Organization tables are also available for $2000 which includes a table of 8 and close to the stage. This price also includes seating, a five star plated dinner, and performances by Metis Jiggers, Susan Aglukark, and Buffy Sainte-Marie.
